Umeå Arts Campus right by the Ume River is framed by exciting architecture and brings together Umeå University's programmes in design, architecture and art. Together with a museum, science centre, incubator, restaurant, gallery and university library, the schools form a unique campus area that is open to everyone and well worth a visit.
Bildmuseet is one of Sweden's leading art galleries for international contemporary art, part of Umeå University and the public heart of the Artistic Campus. On seven floors with striking architecture, we bring art and science together around the pressing issues of our time. Bildmuseet is a place for stimulating encounters and conversations about art, society and existence.

Curiosum
Curiosum is a science centre for the whole family with an experiment workshop, café and shop, as well as a large dome theatre with a 360° screen and state-of-the-art projection and sound technology. The dome shows various dome films that take visitors on breathtaking voyages of discovery among the large and small wonders of our fantastic universe.

The Gallery
The Gallery displays artistic works and thematic group exhibitions by students at the Academy of Fine Arts. It is open to the public throughout the year. The Gallery is located in the Academy of Fine Arts premises at Östra Strandgatan 28, with an entrance from the river.
Umeå Insitute of Design (UID) is part of Umeå University and is ranked as one of the world's leading industrial design programmes. Its competitive, professional and international programmes are supported by leading research and cutting-edge technical facilities. The school has around 30 nationalities represented each semester, creating a unique blend of creative energy and cultural enrichment.
The Umeå Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1987 and is one of five institutions in Sweden that train artists. The programme focuses on the individual needs of students and reflects the creative diversity and critical discourse that exists in contemporary art today.
The Umeå School of Architecture at Umeå University was inaugurated in 2009 and has an artistic profile and an international character with employees and students from all over the world, while at the same time placing great emphasis on anchoring in local and regional conditions. Approximately 300 students and 40 employees study and work here each year.
UmArts is a research centre for architecture, design and art at Umeå University, which also has an exhibition space called UmArts Research Studio. The centre creates an exciting interdisciplinary research environment in art, architecture, design and aesthetic subjects, in collaboration with Bildmuseet. Its activities include artistic research, scientific research, education and public activities, and it operates locally, nationally and internationally.
At UmArts there is a working studio, meeting place and exhibition space for UmArts postdoctoral researchers, Small Visionary Projects and artists’ residencies to make new work and engage audiences with their work and ideas through open studios, reading groups, workshops, talks, and performances.
Arts Campus Library
Here you will find books, journals and electronic resources on contemporary art, architecture and design. The library is intended for students, teachers and researchers at the arts colleges, but is also open to the general public. The library is located on floor 0 in the centre of the Arts Campus.
eXpression Umeå is an academic incubator aimed at cultural and creative companies with innovative business ideas. eXpression Umeå is considered one of Sweden's leading incubators for cultural and creative companies. Every year, it supports around 100 idea generators and entrepreneurs with individual business coaching and workshops with experts, and serves as a creative space for work, networking and community building.
