I began my research career at Scania CV AB, where I was offered the opportunity to pursue a PhD in automatic control in collaboration with KTH, focusing on optimal control problems. After a year, I shifted fields and returned to my hometown of Härnösand to complete a PhD in physics, studying radiative transfer problems in industrial contexts. Complex systems and networks have intrigued me ever since my undergraduate studies at Universidad de la República, Uruguay. After paternity leave, I joined the complex systems group at Umeå University as a postdoctoral researcher. I am now a staff scientist, and my research focuses on developing and applying methods from network science to better understand the structure and dynamics of complex systems, with applications in areas such as community ecology and gene expression.
